Spell is a descendant from Tokomaru Bay on his Mum's side and Hamilton on his Dad's side, and while he considers "The H" his home, Wellington is his home away from home.
At the age of 11 (in 1999), DJ Freeman performed with a rap group at Spell's school, marking the first time that he had seen a DJ in person. After that was P-Money's DMC set on the Big Things CD ROM and the first two Major Flavours. His older friends were into DJing, but it wasn't until he saw Jazzy Jeff at the Hip Hop Summit '03 that his brain exploded and he became a true Hiphoppa, embarking on his quest to master the "core four" elements of Hip Hop. His whirlwind career thus far is the culmination of his skills as a DJ/Turntablist, B-boy, Graffiti Artist and Beat Maker...and he's just getting started. His efforts have paid off with an impressive resume, but one of his favourite highlights was DJing back to back at a house party with Jazzy Jay in Newtown, Wellington.
Spell was named 2011 NZ Redbull Thre3style Champ and has been DJing on The Wednesday Night Jam with Omega B on RadioActive.FM for the last two years. Check out spellspellspell.com for more information on his achievements, to download his mixtapes or to see some videos of him in action.
